Call Faker - It doesn't use minutes.

Had a couple of comments/questions about this. In short:

No. Call Faker does not use minutes. It just makes you look like you're receiving a call - hence the title, Call Faker.

Call Faker and Android 1.5 (Cupcake)

Call Faker and Android 1.5 work together - for the most part, fairly well. The new version of Android seems to keep Call Faker open 'longer', or something, but all in all it still works as it should.

If you're reading this and you see the dreaded Force Close for some reason, email callfaker@gmail.com. I have tested this and didn't run into any problems.

Rings Extended/TonePicker and Call Faker don't always get along

I've heard multiple reports of problems when trying to use an MP3 on an SDCard as the default ringtone with Call Faker. This can be attributed to the use of Rings Extended or TonePicker and the way it sets the default ringtone, from what I can tell.

When Call Faker is set with the default ringtone, and one of these other apps is installed, you will hear a weird ringer (one that you would never normally hear). This is the system's default ringer - i.e. this is the one that gets played when the default ringtone is not available.

Basically when you use one of these helper apps, Call Faker cannot find the location of the default ringtone - it's not accessible for whatever reason. While I have made every effort to protect against this, I don't think that these programs will play nice with each other.

The workaround here is to uninstall Rings Extended or TonePicker. You can always set an MP3 as a ringtone through the Music application. You can also mount the SDCard when connected to your computer, create a folder called ringtones (all lower case), and put the MP3s in there. They should be read when you go to select the ringtone.

Release schedule has been apparently "leaked" here:

100% of G1 users in the US by the end of this week? I'll believe it when I see it :-)

Call Faker 1.2.5.8 Released - now with Immediate Call

Released version Call Faker 1.2.5.8. Email callfaker@gmail.com with feedback and/or bug reports.

Finally fixed an annoying lock issue, hopefully - tested this thoroughly. In some cases, when a fake call goes off, and you schedule another one while locking the phone, you would have to unlock the screen for the second fake call.

Also added an Immediate call - you open the app, hit menu, then hit Immediate Call, and that's it - call shows up 10 seconds later.

This is (probably) the last free version :)

Call Faker 1.2.5.6

I cut down the size of the application; it's around 450kb now (with copy protection - the Market adds on about 200kb to the size).  I took out a couple of the prerecorded voices and some unnecessary files from the build.
