All American Android phones to receive update to 2.1 firmware

Is this really happening or not?

From http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/21892.cfm
---
Androidandme has reported today that all American Android smartphones will be receiving an update to firmware version 2.1, although some will have features missing.

Notably included is the now aging T-Mobile G1, the first Android phone ever, which is still currently running firmware 1.6, like many other devices.

The report does note that some phone will have to be wiped first before they can be upgraded, which shouldn't be too big of a problem as long as you backup your device beforehand. Some phones will also need to be connected to a PC for the install to work, although it is unclear which phones will need the extra effort.

The updates are expected to "still be on schedule for Q2 2010," with the site saying the G1 and the myTouch 3G getting the update first.

SMS Faker v1.2.1 for DROID and other 2.0+ Android phones

For those who have Droid and other 2.0+ phones, contact selection seems to not work.

Therefore I have released a version of this app for phones that have Android 2.0 and higher (including Droid).

This was tested on an emulator. I still have a G1 :-(

Send feedback and bug reports to callfaker@gmail.com. Thanks.

I heart Google Buzz

Slowly it seems like Google is creeping into every possible space in the computing and Internet world. The latest product is Google Buzz. If I had to try to explain it, I'd say it's Facebook without all of the extra crap, and Twitter without that 155 character posting limit. It's tied into Picasa for pictures and Youtube for videos (from what I can tell). If you post on Twitter, Buzz pulls your tweets onto your Buzz feed. And the post I'm writing now will be pulled there too.

Some of the elements of Buzz (the dropdown button next to the Comment button) look like Google Wave. Maybe this is Google rolling Wave out in pieces. Who knows. But I do like having this stuff in one tab under Gmail. Maybe now I can wean myself off of Farmville.
